General Questions/New to Joomla! 5.x • Category Blog menu type behaving strangely

I'm having problems with Joomla 5, template Purity IV.
I'm new to both the above, otherwise I have been using a different template and older Joomla versions for many years.
When I create a menu item type Category Blog, with two test articles in there (one public, one only for registered users), the menu on the frontend is not showing the articles within (that I can probably solve by looking through the settings, at the moment, this doesn't worry me) but it's showing SUBMENU (hover-over type) which says "User" "Joomla Pages" "Template Layouts" "Content Layouts" "Article Layouts".
Clearly, it's some sort of demo prefill/default. I don't know how to get rid of it. I did tell the menu item to link to my article category, which after clicking on it it does (although it's not showing the articles within - again, that's not the main problem atm).
How do I get rid of the "hover-over" submenu? I didn't create any submenu and none of the "alien" submenu items are clickable. They're just there and I'm very much sure they shouldn't be there.
